Copenhagen Business School invites applications for two vacant Assistant Professorships in Managerial Economics at the Department of Operations Management.
The Department’s research profile covers and integrates five academic research areas: Managerial economics (decision modeling around pricing, costing, production planning, optimization and business forecasting); Performance management (design, use, and effects of financial and non-financial measures in strategy development and implementation); Innovation management (deployment of management tool to connect technology, organisation and markets); Operations management (relation between production, organization, and strategy in manufacturing and service industries); Supply chain management (design of flows of goods, services, knowledge and information between firms).
It is the objective of the Department to extend and develop its managerial economics research and teaching agenda significantly. The development of core and advanced curricular in broad areas of managerial economics is central to the Department’s research and dissemination strategy. Therefore, candidates who can relate research on managerial economics, knowledge about managerial economics practices in firms and organizations, and abilities to perform this relationship in teaching programmes are preferred. Ability to develop practical applications of core managerial economics insights is also an advantage as most of the department’s research work is empirical and case based, and much of the teaching is organized as project work. Finally, capabilities in organizing large educational programmes with hundreds of students are preferred.
The Department of Operations Management supplies teaching and supervision to undergraduate, graduate, masters, executive and PhD programmes in economics and business administration.
The vacant positions will have a strong emphasis on teaching responsibilities. However, to fulfill the research requirements of the position, the applicant chosen is expected to be physically present on a regular basis and actively participate in the teaching and research activities of the Department as well as maintaining and establishing broad links across CBS.
The assistant professorship is a fixed contract for four years with a negotiable extension of one year with teaching and research obligations.
Responsibilities
- Teaching and associated examination in existing CBS programs, including Executive Education;
- Developing the teaching agenda for managerial economics; rejuvenating existing sessions, courses and teaching programs and contributing to innovative new ones;
- Promoting the teaching and research capabilities of Copenhagen Business School and other relevant assignments at Copenhagen Business School;
- Contributing to the administrative responsibilities of the department and to CBS-wide tasks;
- Communicating findings to the public in general and to CBS’s stakeholders in particular;
- Active participation in the regular research activities, such as research seminars, workshops and conferences.
Qualification
Emphasis is placed on the applicant’s extensive pedagogical experience in teaching and interest in developing the field of Managerial Economics.
